Clinical Trials

Improving cancer care through research

Some of today’s most effective cancer treatments are the result of clinical trials, providing life-saving treatments for conditions that were once untreatable. Sparks Health System conducts a variety of clinical trials to discover more effective therapies to treat cancer, offering area residents access to the latest cancer treatments.

Patients who participate in clinical trials can be among the first to benefit from treatments developed by some of the country’s leading cancer researchers, without having to travel to other parts of the country.

For additional information about Sparks clinical trials or other active research around the country, visit All studies follow very strict protocols and have many built in safeguards. Participants must meet specific guidelines and patients with certain conditions or characteristics are ruled out of the trials. An Internal Review Board, composed of both medical and lay people, oversees all trials. An attorney is on the board to insure participants' rights, and any adverse effect at any trial site is immediately reported to all sites. In addition, participants may withdraw from the trial at any point.
