Sparks Associates Raise A Hand To Stop Child Abuse

(April 26, 2012) - Sparks Associates recently joined the movement to ‘Step Up and Speak Out' against Child Abuse in Fort Smith. Monday's rally at Sparks Regional Medical Center provided a venue for Associates and the public to learn more about child abuse and the importance of reporting it. Rally co-chairman Sam T. Sicard spoke regarding the alarming prevalence of child abuse in the River Valley and how educating the public to be vocal for children can someday stop the cycle of child abuse. Channel 5 Chief Meteorologist Garrett Lewis shared his personal story of child abuse and motivated the crowd to be a voice for those who are invisible.

Members of the Sparks “Getting2Great” teams painted hands for the “Step Up Speak out” support wall raised in the north parking lot of the Sparks campus. Sparks Associates 'raised a hand' by promising to be aware of child sexual abuse signs and symptoms, and to take steps within their sphere of influence to prevent or report it.

Monday’s rally was held in conjunction with the “Step Up Speak Out: A Rally to End Child Abuse” event on Saturday, April 28 at the UAFS campus green.
