Sparks Nurses Honor Lost Peers

(May 7, 2012) - Sparks Health System nurses are paying tribute to their lost peers in a special ceremony.

A Nurse Candlelight Memorial Service will be held at dusk on Tuesday, May 8. The event is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Healing Garden at Sparks Regional Medical Center.

Sparks nurses are submitting names of nursing personnel from the past and present they wish to remember with a candle of recognition. The service will include songs, prayer and a brief memorial.

The ceremony is a part of National Nurses Week events at Sparks.  National Nurses Week is celebrated annually from May 6, National Nurses Day, through May 12, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. Florence Nightingale is regarded as the founder of modern nursing.
