Sparks/Summit CEO Honored as 'Woman of Influence'

FORT SMITH, AR (February 25, 2013) – Sparks Health System and Summit Medical Center are proud to announce our Chief Executive Officer is listed among the most influential women in Arkansas.

In the Feb. 25 edition of Arkansas Business, Melody Trimble is profiled alongside nine other women selected by the publication’s editorial staff as being the most influential females in Arkansas in 2013. On Jan. 1, Trimble assumed the position of President of the Southern & Western Group for Sparks and Summit’s parent company, Health Management Associates Inc. The position provides oversight of 26 health care facilities in seven states, including Sparks and Summit. Trimble will continue to serve as CEO of Sparks and Summit until a replacement is named.

Prior to becoming CEO of Sparks in 2009, Trimble served as CEO at Venice Regional Medical Center in Venice, Florida, for nearly five years. She has served in multiple leadership roles in hospitals from Clinical Director of Emergency Services to Chief Nursing Officer to Chief Operating Officer. In 2012, Trimble earned a designation as Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. She has a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Kentucky and a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Eastern Kentucky University. In 2010, Trimble was named CEO of the Year by Health Management. She earned the company’s prestigious President’s Leadership Award the following year.

Sparks Health System includes Sparks Regional Medical Center, Sparks Clinic (an employed multi-specialty physician group), Sparks PremierCare physician-hospital organization, Sparks Home Health and the fully hospital-integrated Marvin Altman Fitness Center.

Summit Medical Center is a fully accredited, 103-bed acute care hospital. The medical staff includes numerous specialties such as Anesthesiology, Cardiology, Emergency Medicine, Family and Internal Medicine, Bariatric and General Surgery, Orthopedic and Plastic Surgery, Pediatrics and Wound Care.
