Infection Prevention and Control Program

At Sparks Health System our patients are very important to us and the main goal of our Infection Program is to coordinate functions related to surveillance, prevention, and control of hospital associated infection in patients and health care workers. Some of the activities related to the reduction of infections to our patients and staff include:

  •      •Patient and staff education
  •      •Continually monitoring data for potential trends and targeting focus areas.
  •      •Working with multiple departments and physician clinics to ensure infection control guidelines are followed.
  •      •Involving patients and their families in their care and treatment
  •      •Involvement in the planning and design of new construction and in the renovations to existing facilities
  •      •Providing our patients and staff the opportunity to have seasonal flu shots

The Infection Prevention and Control program is overseen by the Infection Control Committee which is made up of physicians, leaders, and front line staff. The committee meets monthly and reviews all elements of the program. The committee strives for continuous improvement through ongoing literature review and the implementation of best practice techniques.
